The cheapest balloon offer in Marrakech is not always the best value: very low prices can leave out hotel pickup, breakfast or insurance, cut the time in the air, or add costs at the field. Compare what is included, who operates the flight and the cancellation terms before you pay. Our shared sunrise flight costs €135 per person with pickup, tea and msemen, 45–60 minutes in the air, a Moroccan breakfast and a certificate.
Searching for a hot air balloon Marrakech cheap enough to fit your budget is sensible. A balloon flight is not a small spend, and nobody wants to pay more than they need to. The catch is that the lowest number on a screen or a flyer is not always the lowest total. Some offers look cheap because something has been taken out.
This guide shows you how to compare offers fairly. We explain what a balloon morning really costs to run, which items tend to disappear from very low prices, and a simple checklist you can use with any operator, including us. Then we show what our own shared flight includes, so you can judge its value against anything else you find.
What makes a balloon flight cheap?
A balloon morning has real costs. Propane for the burners. The balloon envelope, basket and burners, which need regular inspection and repair. Insurance. A trained pilot and a ground crew. Vehicles for pickup and for chasing the balloon across the countryside. Tea at the field and breakfast after landing. When a price is far below what others charge, at least one of those costs has been reduced or moved somewhere else.
That does not automatically mean a low price is a bad deal. It means you should know what you are giving up, and decide whether it matters to you. A traveller who is happy to skip breakfast may not mind. A family with young children, waiting at a dark roadside meeting point at 5:00, probably will.
What very cheap offers can leave out
These are the points worth checking when a deal looks too low. None of them is visible in a headline price, so ask before you pay. A good operator answers each one quickly and in writing, whether you book with them directly or through a platform.
- Hotel or riad pickup – some offers use a meeting point you must reach at dawn
- Breakfast – tea at the field and a proper meal after landing are not always included
- Time in the air – a long morning can still mean a short flight; ask for the minutes
- Basket space – find out how the basket is shared and where you will stand
- Insurance and a clear weather policy, with a new date or refund if the flight is cancelled
- Extras charged at the field, such as photos, certificates or transport
Ask one simple question of any offer: “What exactly do I pay, and is anything extra on the morning?”
Hot air balloon Marrakech cheapest or best value? A checklist
Run any offer through these points before you pay, including ours. Clear, quick answers are a good sign. If the answers are vague, that tells you something too. Our page on how to choose a balloon company goes into each point in more depth.
- Can you name the company that actually flies the balloon?
- Is pickup from your hotel or riad included, both ways?
- How many minutes are spent in the air?
- Is the basket shared or private?
- What food is included, before and after the flight?
- Is every flight insured?
- What happens if the weather stops the flight?
- Is the price final, with nothing added at the field?

Seven ways to pay less for your flight
Saving money on a balloon flight is mostly about avoiding waste: paying for things you do not need, or paying twice because a plan went wrong. These simple habits keep the total down without cutting the parts of the morning that make it worth doing.
- Choose the shared shared flight unless privacy really matters to you
- Travelling as five or more? A private balloon at €330 per person may beat several upgrades
- Children fly at a reduced price – send their ages when you book
- Book direct or through a platform, but compare the final price with inclusions, not the headline
- Book early in your stay, so a weather cancellation means a new date, not a lost flight
- Skip extras you will not use; photos from your own phone are often enough
- Avoid buying from people on the street who cannot tell you who flies the balloon
Street offers and last-minute deals
In the medina you may be offered a balloon flight by someone on the street or in a shop. Some of these offers may be fine, but you often cannot tell who the operator is, what is included or who to call if the pickup does not arrive at 5:00. If you buy this way, ask for the company’s name and confirm the booking with the company yourself. Our list of what not to do in Marrakech covers this and other easy mistakes.
When you book with us, you send a request on the website and we confirm by WhatsApp or email. Nothing is charged online, and you know from the start who will fly you. Send your request and we reply with your booking confirmation; the exact pickup time follows the evening before.
Questions about hot air balloon marrakech cheap
Do you offer group discounts?
Our group pricing is built into the private balloon: from five people it costs €330 per person, and the basket is yours alone. For groups of three or four, ask us for a price. If you prefer to share a basket, the shared flight is €135 per person.
Is a very cheap balloon flight less safe?
Not necessarily, but you should check. Ask whether every flight is insured, whether the pilot gives a full briefing, and what the weather policy is. A low price with clear, confident answers is a fair deal. Vague answers are a reason to look further. Our safety guide lists more questions.
Is breakfast on board worth paying extra for?
It depends on what you value. At €680 per person, breakfast on board adds a meal served in the basket while you fly, on top of the full morning. If you mainly want the flight and the views, the €135 shared flight already ends with a generous Moroccan breakfast after landing.
Do I lose my money if the flight is cancelled?
No. If we cancel for weather or safety, you choose a new date or a full refund. And because nothing is charged online when you book, there is no card payment to chase. Flying early in your stay gives you a spare morning if needed.
